Blue Lug Gear Ratio Bandana

Given that the gear ratio is a fairly frequent conversation point among bike geeks (and the source of bragging rights among fixed gear riders) it’s pretty helpful having this Blue Lug reference at hand. Although wearing it in your pocket might send out the wrong message in certain parts of Cape Town…

Thom Browne for Moncler SS2011

Luxury sportswear brand Moncler teamed up with menswear designer Thom Browne for the Moncler Gamme Bleu SS2011 collection. The theme of the collection was “Tour de France”, with models wearing bicycle print leggings and cycling-inspired flourishes such as gloves and caps. As with most “cycling themed” fashion, the clothes aren’t exactly suited for cycling in. But I liked the fact that the show was held in Milan’s famous Velodromo Vigorelli. Nice bit of history, right there!

Thanks for the heads up, Kate!

Chari & Co NYC x Minority Works

Chari & Co NYC have teamed up with Minority Works to create a pair of sunglasses is the classic colours of the Merckx 7-Eleven team bikes. They look totally badass!

Here’s the lowdown from Chari & Co:

“We went with the color way and theme of the great 7-Eleven team that rode Merckx bikes and represented everything awesome and exciting about cycle racing. The 7-Eleven team has an unusual cult following here in the United States but everyone can appreciate the history of the team and of course the legacy of Eddy Merckx. The glasses are made by Minority Works and are available with two lense colors, black and clear.”

Even Obama’s got a pair!

Knice rides the World Cup

With the FIFA World Cup less than a week away, bikes have taken a back seat to soccer in Cape Town. Thankfully, LA-based KNICE clothing have come up with a winning combination.

To co-incide with the World Cup, they’ve teamed up with Tobie at Fittees to produce a t-shirt that’ll be printed, produced and sold exclusively in South Africa. Pretty cool, right? Rumour has it there’ll also be a launch event as well… We’ll keep you posted.
